Fatherhood Coalition Host Father's Day Event
June 11, 2002 Release No. 06/02-147
HOLYOKE -- The Hampden chapter of The Fatherhood Coalition will host its First Annual Fathers Day Breakfast, Sunday, June 16 from 9 am to 1 pm at the Holyoke Elks Lodge, 250 Whitney Avenue, Holyoke, which is located off Exit 15 of I-91.
According to Doug Reed, event coordinator and member of the coalition, the breakfast is a continuation of a "fine tradition" that was started by the group, Concerned Fathers, which was organized and run by George Kelly of West Springfield for more than two decades.
"We plan to have a fun-filled day for kids of all ages," Reed said. There will be entertainment to include clowns, music, story telling, and child/parent team games in which participants will experience the spirit and joys of parent- and childhood.
"Its a special day for parents and grandparents to share precious time with their children in honor of fathers," he said. There will also be a raffle for prizes, a literature table and the coalitions, "Missing Those Precious Years" bulletin board to display pictures of children who could not join us at the event
You may buy tickets for the event at the door for $3; kids 12 and under free. For more info, please contact Doug at 1-413-478-3154 or our Fathers Rights Hotline at 1-413-295-DADS.
