BOSTON, October 2, 2001 Father's rights advocates will hold a peaceful protest of the gender-profiling and bias against fathers practiced in family law Tuesday, October 2 at Salem Superior Court. The state Supreme Judicial Court will be holding sessions that day in the Superior Court.
The rally is sponsored by the North Shore chapter of the Fatherhood Coalition, a statewide non-profit organization advocating for fathers rights. The rally is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m.
|"We are planning an all-day
protest against the blatant disregard of fatherhood and egregious violations of our rights
by the courts."
Earl Henry Sholley,
According to North Shore chapter director and event coordinator Richard Hilly, the protest is to draw attention to the flagrant violation of civil rights of fathers and consequent abuse of children resulting from the state's domestic violence laws and policies, child support guidelines, and other roadblocks to visitation rights of non-custodial parents and grandparents.
Several fathers currently embroiled in custody and family law-related litigation will be on hand.
Also on hand will be former state senate candidate and Fatherhood Coalition Southwest Metro chapter director Earl Henry Sholley. "We are planning an all-day protest against the blatant disregard of fatherhood and egregious violations of our rights by the courts," asserts Sholley.
According to Coalition Spokesman Mark Charalambous, "Under the color of law, the fundamental civil liberties of fathers are being systematically violated. Due to the success of so-called 'feminist jurisprudence' in the state's courts, women are empowered to essentially destroy the fathers of their children. Absurd child support awards financially cripple good fathers, ensuring that they cannot have any semblance of a normal relationship with their own children. Child abuse and domestic violence zealots within the courts ensure that any claims of 'abuse' by mom are treated as Gospel. We refer to this assault on fathers and their children as the War on Fatherhood."
