Parent's march on Washington Sept. 23

Historic event to protest government intrusion into the family

The Parent's March on Washington, D.C. is part of a spontaneous grassroots movement in the United States to focus public attention on the atrocities being committed against vulnerable children and their families by the child welfare system.

Many parents have experienced abuses by the government when it comes to their families and their children. They have formed many diverse organizations and have chosen to approach their problems from many different perspectives. While these organizations do not necessarily advocate for individual goals or causes, all are gratified that they have found a mutual issue to draw them together to advocate for real change in our government agencies and family courts.

The focus of this event is to call for accountability for the many abuses by government agencies, the unconstitutional laws applied against parents and children, and the need to protect the inherent sovereignty of the family against unwarranted governmental intrusions.

To these ends, the parents of America have gathered together - black and white, rich and poor, liberal and conservative alike - to make their collective voice heard in Washington, D.C. on September 23, 1998.

MAINE AND MASSACHUSETTS FATHERS ADVOCATES

Get on the bus and be counted in DC on Sept. 23!

Maine DADS is chartering a bus to pick up people from pickup points in Maine and Boston. The cost is $85 for a round-trip ticket and a commemorative T-shirt.

Participants do not need to be members of Maine Dads or The Fatherhood Coalition to go. All are invited and encouraged to participate.
