DSS Gestapo tactics exposed

In a story that made front-page news on both major Boston dailies in March, Massachusetts Department of Social Services have been caught once again with their pants down.

A female MD successfully cleared her name after DSS found her guilty of child neglect for leaving her two sleeping children in her car for less than two minutes in July 1996 while she ran an errand at a store in Natick. She set the car alarm, cracked the windows open, but fortunately a good citizen spotted the offensive act and called the police.

By the time the police arrived, the mother and children were gone, none the wiser. When she returned home a message was left for her from the Natick police regarding "the incident," advising her to call. When she did, she was read her rights over the phone.

It took this female, married, MD, $15,000 worth of legal and psychologist's fees and eight months to clear her name. Question: What happens when the victim of the DSS child abuse zealots is male, perhaps going through a divorce/custody battle, and doesn't have $15,000?

Later, the formal paperwork arrived from DSS stating that an investigation had supported the allegation of abuse, after talking with family members and others.

However, this investigation never happened. To the chagrin of DSS, it was publicly revealed the day after the story broke that abuse investigation reports are frequently falsified. Lorraine Carli from DSS admits that social workers file abuse charges without conducting the required interviews, and then falsely claim that they were, according to press reports.
